Jim, Joe and Bill Singleton started Able Moving in 1987 with one truck and a small ad in the Yellow Pages. A second truck was added in early ’88, and a third by the end of that year. We were 7 trucks strong with 18 full-time employees by the end of the ’80s.

In 1990 we rented our first warehouse in Manassas, Va. It was a small 6,500 square foot warehouse with just enough office space for the three of us. However this enabled us to offer storage to our list of services and that put us on the map as a real mover here to stay.

1997 -- We purchased 13 acres off route 66 in Manassas, and started planning a new home for our business.

1998 -- Construction started on our new facility. By 1999, we’d moved in and finally had enough room.

2001 – Our dad Bill retired, but he never left the furniture business … instead of moving furniture, he now makes it in his home woodworking shop.

2004 -- Construction began on a new warehouse as well as 2 additional acres for parking.

Today – Able Moving has grown! Our fleet is 50 trucks strong, and we have all the systems in place to move or store household goods anywhere in the world.
