Able Moving & Storage Emphasizes Employee Education Through ESOL Classes

Employee Education through ESOL Classes

On Saturday, March 5th, with a weather forecast of light snow and Easter still weeks away, 22 employees attended their first of fourteen ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Citizenship classes, organized and paid for by Able Moving & Storage.

Within days of posting the voluntary sign-up sheet, we had surpassed the minimum of 20 necessary to secure a course designed specifically for our employees by Hogar Immigrant Services – Catholic Charities in Manassas, VA. They were able to create a schedule that worked best for our employees, as well as Able Moving & Storage’s work-load.

The course, which was split into two groups based on placement test results, highlighted industry-specific terminology in addition to the regular curriculum. The snow gave way to rain (and there was a LOT of rain, if you remember), yet every Saturday morning, these dedicated employees traded their Able Moving & Storage-logoed hats for “thinking caps” and attended classes from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Then, on a sunny Saturday in the middle of June, just before the historically busiest moving weekend of the year, the students who had signed up for the course over 4 months previous, proudly attended their final class and received their certificates of completion! We couldn’t be more proud and excited for those that gave it their ALL and showed everyone that they are capABLE!
